Session Bloopers! The realness that happens in between…

When photographing clients, especially clients with multiple children, it does not always seem like smooth sailing during our sessions.  In fact, it can be pretty downright chaotic!

This newborn session was no exception.  3 children, 3 and under.  Mom recovering from an invasive c-section 5 days prior, and dad completely sleep-deprived from the past week of absolutely no sleep and wearing a million hats to keep the family afloat (including not taking a break for paternity leave!)

But what I love so much about my job and what I do, is being able to capture the real and raw moments that happen in between the perfectly posed portraits.  The giggles, the “Oh my goodness, I’m going to kill my kids…” the frustration, and the anxiety.  It’s what connects me with the family and allows me to see their family dynamics with all of the walls down.  That’s when I produce my very best work.

And despite mom’s skepticism of whether or not we achieve *anything* from our session, I almost always manage to surprise them….
