We just wrapped up a fun weekend showering some of my closest and oldest friends and their new baby on the way. Emily and I have been best friends since freshman year in high school. We’ve traveled to Europe together, lost way too many high school soccer games, hiked mountains, rafted rivers, walked 10,000 laps around the Valdosta Middle School track – all while dreaming about the day we’d be wives and mothers.
Through every up and down and every turn in my life, Emily has been there for me…. So when she called and told me the exciting news, I jumped at the opportunity to host a baby shower for her and the closest people in their lives.
For this event, I wanted something simple, tasteful and beautiful. Emily was planning an owl-themed nursery, so we knew we wanted to incorporate that into our theme. After a little brainstorming and sketching, Kristen and I decided to begin designing invitations that had a bit of a vintage look to it.
I love the way they turned out. Kristen and I probably spent *way* too much time assembling these invites, but it was well worth it…
The grandmothers-to-be were wonderful co-hosts to this event! I adored working with them… “Whatever you want to do, Alice – we will let you take the lead on all of the decision making!” I loved that!
It wasn’t easy coordinating the details of the Shower while jumpstarting our crazy Fall portrait and while running NAPCP and after an active toddler – but I kept it sweet and simple – and with a little bit of planning, it all came beautifully together.
Some adorable newborn onesies lining the dessert table.
A little bit of pink and a little bit of blue as Emily and Brian are going to leave the gender a surprise…
And don’t you just *adore* this cake?! Kathi from My Sweet Things designed this beautiful (and TASTY) cake, cupcakes & owl cookies off the invitations we mailed out to our guests. It was almost too beautiful to eat!
I love this photograph of Emily’s little bump & her cake…
Some additional details of the shower… Isn’t this diaper cake that Emily’s MIL law created precious?
Such a fun day it was!
And I loved that so many friends & family traveled far to be here for Emily and Brian… What a wonderful group it was!
A beautiful baby bump!
Me and my friend of 17 years and counting…. I’m so excited for this amazing new adventure in their lives!
